*Please note new date!*
For a while now, I’ve been inviting you to email me any questions and feedback to contact[at]pauldateh[dot]com. However, it came to my attention barely earlier this week that I never received any of your email messages due to a server/forwarding error.
I feel terrible about leaving you hanging and for leaving your messages [...]
Last week, The Bui Brothers and I had a photo shoot for my album cover.
At the time this video was shot, we had already been driving around downtown Los Angeles for several hours. It was fairly late at night by this point, and we had been previously joking the whole time about getting caught for [...]
Hey everyone,
So here’s the big announcement: I am finally able to post details about the release of my album! The exact date will be solidified very soon, but I will say that you’ll be able to get the full album in January of 2009.
To give you a taste of what you’ll hear on the album, [...]
Hello, and welcome to my newly-designed site!
This new site might appear very similar to the old one before it, but we’ve actually made a lot of changes to improve site performance as well as make everything look a lot cleaner. Special thanks go out to Lan Bui of The Bui Brothers for helping me make [...]
Recently, I went on my first international tour, and I was able to spend eight days in the city of Berlin, Germany. This is my musical and visual recap of my time there.
Berlin is an amazing city for the creatively-inclined - there’s art EVERYWHERE. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Every street is an [...]

Okay, it’s not the update I pledged to post earlier, but it’s an update nonetheless! Due to my recording and performance schedule, I still haven’t had the proper time to edit the footage from my European tour. However, I am definitely going to make a proper entry that recaps my time on the road - [...]
Hey everyone,
I just got back from being on tour with Louis Logic, Blueprint, and DJ Illegal. The tour was awesome. I’m going through all of my video footage now, so check back for a full tour recap soon.
In the meantime, you can check out all the photos I took while on the road on my [...]
I didn’t think I would have enough time to post a real entry from the road, but here I am!
Here’s a quick video that documents my day on London.
Next stop: Bonn, Germany for the Rheinkultur Music Festival.
P.S. Thanks for Naf, Jimmy, and Zeni for driving all the way from Bradford! And special thanks to Brian [...]
I’m going on my very first international tour. Actually, it’s my first tour… ever!
I’ll be on the road with Louis Logic and Blueprint for a two-week run throughout the UK and Europe. You can see the full tour schedule on my website at http://pauldateh.com/tour.

We’ve been hanging out together online for quite a while now, I have to say that I’m really enjoying getting to know you! Your comments, video responses, and emails frikkin’ rock. Thanks for sending them, and keep sending more!
When I open my email inbox, however, there’s one question that I see over and over again: [...]
My good friend Ken Belcher and I recently had our very first livestream show right here at live.pauldateh.com. Here’s one of the songs we performed: Waiting for Love. It’s an old song that I wrote way back when I was 18, and I’m really embarrassed to sing it now. But, Ken insisted that we play [...]
My good friend Alex was in town this week from New York City, and I thought it would be fun if we made a quick video that covered the basic differences between the viola and the violin. Although the violin is a beautiful instrument, you just can’t the kind of robust tone from a violin [...]

This week, I met up with my good friend and producer Oren Yoel to work out the arrangements to a couple tracks on my upcoming album. We’re getting closer and closer to official production, and I’m very much looking forward to the day the record gets pressed.
I’ll make sure to keep posting video updates regularly. [...]

This episode documents two weeks of my life on the road during the Spring of 2008.
Week One: Performing at Playboy’s “Rock the Rabbit” Spring Break Festival in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Week Two: Exhibiting for Sony Ericsson at CTIA Wireless 2008 and performing at Miss Playboy Mobile 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I’ll be back on the [...]
I really don’t know what I hoped to truly accomplish in making this video or post. I just felt that I had to do something to externalize all these feelings and thoughts that I’ve been dealing with inside my head for all these years. I wish that I could better organize my thoughts to write [...]
In my recent episode documenting my trip to NYC, you got to see the serious side of my personality. This week, I’d like to share a little of the silly side.
Inka and I are exhibiting for Sony Ericsson at CTIA this week. We’re staying in a crazy fancy hotel, and I am fully amazed and [...]
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an entry, and I’m happy to finally have a new video to share (especially considering that my last entry wasn’t the most cheerful).
This week’s video documents my recent trip to New York City. I was in town for several meetings, rehearsals, a recording session, and a show with [...]
This video documents what happened after my show at Temple Bar last night (2/28/08).
After having a great time playing music and hanging out with awesome people at the show, I went to grab a late-night dinner with some friends. Immediately after we were seated, however, someone was beaten and stabbed right in front of the [...]
Due to being in NYC this past week, I’m going to need a little extra time to put my next episode together. But, I got a lot of great footage from my trip, so make sure to check back and see what I was up to in the city.
Also, if you’re in the [...]
Here’s a quick look at what one of my rehearsals looks like.
(I’m currently in NYC to work on a couple projects with DJ Johnny Juice, as well as play a show with Juice at Pace University on Thursday, the 21st. Due to my schedule while I’m in the city — and my [...]
When I was a student in music school, every teacher and professor I ever had always said the same thing: every instrumentalist must know how to sing. I hope that the video attached to this post qualifies as a partial fulfillment of their requirements.
I say “partial fulfillment”, because there’s a second part to that mandate: [...]
Hello, and welcome to my new site!
As you can see, parts of the site are still very much in a “bare-bones” form. I was thinking of holding off this soft launch a little bit longer so that I could make things look better, but then I remembered my goal in doing this whole thing: to [...]
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an entry, and I’m happy to finally have a new video to share (especially considering that my last entry wasn’t the most cheerful).
This week’s video documents my recent trip to New York City. I was in town for several meetings, rehearsals, a recording session, and a show with DJ Johnny Juice at Pace University. I was also lucky to be invited to appear on Rocketboom, one of my favorite online shows. Not only that, I was able to find a little time to catch up with good friends and family. All in all, it was a very exciting week!
Speaking of exciting, Inka and I will be performing at Playboy’s “Rock the Rabbit” Spring Break Festival this coming weekend. I’ll be taking my camera with me, so check for that video soon!
Also, I am thinking of playing a live concert online sometime soon with my guitarist Ken Belcher (most likely via ustream). As soon as I figure out all the technical aspects to make that happen, I’ll be sure to post all the details. (If any of you have experience broadcasting live musical performances online, please send me an email or leave me a comment!)
Sorry that this entry is written so haphazardly. I’m in a rush to get several writing projects done before I leave town this weekend. Hopefully, I won’t be as rushed next week! ![]()

awsome as always. love keeping up with what you are doing with your music and otherwise. when you make these vlogs, are you just using a normal camcorder? and what software do you use to edit the vlogs? (sorry for the geeky questions.) keep up the great work.
March 19th, 2008 at 12:46 am
@all: Thanks, everyone! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video.
@B Chang: I’m using a point-and-shoot Canon SD870IS, and I use Adobe Premiere to edit. I also often check http://freevlog.org for tips on video compression settings.
