hello, everyone!
welcome to the 2nd installment of my 10-week album giveaway. if you don’t know what i’m talking about, just watch last week’s video and you’ll be caught up to speed. i hope you enjoyed the first track – “be more” – last week, which now brings us to the number two track on the album. it’s called “whatever i choose“.
as you might guess from the title, “whatever i choose” is a song about rebellion. and if you already know my backstory, you’ve probably also figured that this song relates to my experience of moving out of the classical music world and into the world of jazz and other styles of music. choosing to drop my major in classical violin during college raised a lot of challenges in my life; it was definitely a rough transition to say the least. so, in a nutshell, this song is pretty much a three-and-a-half minute “F-U” to everyone that discouraged me from expanding my musical knowledge.
much to the chagrin of my critics, the lyrics of “whatever i choose” are fairly redundant. but what do you expect? i wrote the song during college. and besides, i really, really, really wanted to make sure i got my point across, even to the point of repeating it ad nauseam. i guess, the song is my way of being that rebellious, immature little kid that keeps yelling until everyone hears what he has to say, whether you like it or not.
but, i’ll leave that decision of liking it up to you. click that free download link and listen for yourself!

and, as a side note, just know that there is no single, correct way to be a musician. there’s nothing wrong with pursuing your passions, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. after all, music is all about expressing yourself and having fun while doing it.
so that’s it for this week. i’ll see you right back here next monday for track number three. in the meantime, i will see you around elsewhere online!
best wishes to your and yours,
pd
